Harvard Medical School Prof. Dr. Suzanne Salamon says medication checkups should be performed annually. It's particularly important for elderly people, and after a hospitalization. Collect everything you take regularly, and take the physical bottles with you to your next primary care appointment. You may find out certain combinations are causing unwanted side effects, or diminishing a med's efficacy. Or, you may find out that you're paying too much, because a cheaper alternative is available!
