New Study Finds Ketamine Alleviates Depression

A phase 2 study found that ketamine can alleviate symptoms of major depression and suicidal thoughts.
The compound, which has a history of recreational use as a party drug, was administered in a nasal spray mist.
According to researchers, a specific part of the ketamine molecule was synthesized in liquid form, and compared against current treatment methods and a placebo.
For participants using the 'esketamine' nasal spray, depression scores and suicidal thoughts dropped after over a 4 and 24 hour period.
