Computer Model Used To Determine Breast Cancer Treatment
Computer Model Used To Determine Breast Cancer Treatment
by Wochit 21 June 2018
According to UPI, researchers at Monash University used a computer program to determine a combination of drugs for treating triple-negative breast cancer. According to Dr. Lan Nguyen, their computer application may help clinicians match the best combinations of drugs for individual patients in the future. The researchers used genetic and treatment data derived from cancerous cells in labs and patients around the world to develop their computer model. With that data, researchers at Monash worked with colleagues from the Weizmann Institute to model the key signaling network that leads to the growth of triple-negative breast cancers. In turn, their model can also predict how drugs will reroute that network, to determine specific treatments for each patient.
